How A Rock Star Found Out His Ex Was A Hooker
December 8, 2008 - 7:34 pm
In Tuesday's Review-Journal, I have a really funny interview running with singer John Corabi, who took over Vince Neil’s spot in Motley Crue for a few years before becoming the singer for Ratt.
But what I don't include in Tuesday's column: He knew that one of his longtime girlfriends was a stripper at Cheetahs in Vegas. After living together for years, she ran off with another musician. Then a mutual friend spilled some beans about her. Corabi's conversation with their mutual friend went like this:
Friend: "Dude, you’re way better off."
Corabi: "OK, what do you know that I don’t know?"
Friend: "Well ... you knew she used to be a hooker in Atlanta, right?"
Corabi: "Are you kidding me? Why didn’t you tell me that?"
Friend: "You looked happy."
Corabi: "Of course I was happy. I was married to a f----n’ hooker! Why didn’t you tell me that?"
On Tuesday night, Corabi and other rockers from famous bands play in a "supergroup" called Monster Circus at the Hilton. Showtime is at 6:30 p.m. Admission is free, but if you go, please take as many unwrapped toys as you can as Toys for Tots donations.
Corabi says he gets regular paychecks now from Gibson to promote guitars. All he has to do is, on occasion, go to music stores around the world, play a storyteller's acoustic set, chat with fans and sign autographs.
He loves that job. But he points out that rockers like him usually don't get corporate paychecks like this so regularly.
"It's something I'm not used to — a 401k and benefits," he says. "I’m like, 'Wait, I can take this card and go get my teeth clean? Really? Does this work with hookers? Because I’m pretty sure I’m going to Vegas."
