John Smith: Hands down No. 1

There is no doubt that the best print journalist in Nevada is John L. Smith. It's been that way for a long, long time. Readers of the Las Vegas Review-Journal said so again in today's "Best of Las Vegas" edition.

This is not to say that there aren't other good writers out there. But nobody approaches John L's authoritative and compelling body of work. If you could only read one thing a day in any Nevada newspaper, you'd be well informed if you picked John L.

Congrats, John. I know you don't do it for the occasional atta-boy or the money. The good ones don't. It's a calling, not a job. Nevertheless, allow me to echo the wise readers -- "well earned!"
