Juarez and You: Meth and murder just across the border
June 8, 2009 - 8:47 am
Horror novels have become obsolete now that the story of meth production, distribution, and use is reaching the public from south of the border. Murder and kidnapping have become mundane daily events in Ciudad Juarez.
Who knows, perhaps those dark Mexican shadows might stretch all the way to Las Vegas.
Here’s a little story about a big problem.
Notice the name of Zhenli Ye Gon, the suspected methamphetamine precursor chemical kingpin. Some of the $205 million confiscated from Gon’s mansion is being used for some meth prevention programs.
And, as we know, Gon was an embraced high roller at the Venetian, where according to published reports he gambled more than $120 million. Small world, don't you think?
