KB to hold celebrations

KB Home will open five new communities across the Las Vegas Valley this weekend.

The five new communities are Brookhaven, Brighton, Highland Hills, Remington and Kingwood Crest.

The communities offer 31 of the builder's special Built to Order floor plans

New Energy Plus- and Energy Star-qualified KB homes are available from the low $100,000s.

The grand opening celebrations will stretch across the valley.

Homebuyers who purchase before March 13 could have a chance to receive $5,000 worth of options from the KB Home Studio for their new home.

Remington is a private gated community located in the northwestern area of the valley on Elkhorn Road just west of Durango Drive.

The community offers five two-story home plans, ranging from 1,386 to 1,867 square feet with prices starting at $117,990.

Two model homes features KB Home's Open Series collection. These homes are efficiently designed to devote the most square footage to the areas of the home where people spend the majority of their time -- the kitchen, dining and living spaces, according to company officials.

Prizes offered in this community today include an Apple iPad, Xbox Kinect game system or skydiving package for two.

The gated community of Brookhaven is located a little further west on Ivy Run Street, a couple blocks off Tee Pee Lane, near Elkhorn. It offers five two-story home designs, also from the Open Series, ranging from 1,612 to 2,165 square feet, with prices starting at $122,990.

Brighton is a gated community in the Providence master-planned community. It is across the street from Knickerbocker Park.

This community features seven more home designs from the Open Series priced from the low $130,000s.

Kingwood Crest is located in Summerlin, which offers world-class golf courses and more than 150 miles of community trails that connect the community parks. This community features energy-efficient homes with prices starting in the mid-$200,000s.

Highland Hills is in the south end of the valley adjacent to the Southern Highlands master-planned community on Cactus Road between Decatur and Jones boulevards. This community showcases nine Open Series home designs, including one- and two-story homes, ranging from 1,438 to more than 2,500 square feet with prices starting in the $140,000s.

The homebuilder is offering its Built to Order program in all five communities. Built to Order means the homebuyers choose their neighborhood, preferred home site and interior design details.

Homebuyers work with design consultants at the KB Home Studio, a retail-like showroom that displays the homebuilder's interior and exterior design options.

All of KB's new homes are built to the Environmental Protection Agency's strict Energy Star guidelines.

Features like programmable thermostats, radiant-barrier roof lining, low-e windows and efficient heating and cooling systems help keep household energy utility bills low.

In fact, a new Energy Star-qualified KB home is up to 45 percent more efficient than a home built as recently as the 1990s, according to company officials.

Additionally, the company recently announced a new initiative that will provide home shoppers an Energy Performance Guide or EPG -- a numerical rating of a home's energy efficiency and an estimate of monthly electric and gas costs for a home. KB Home is one of the first national builders in the industry to provide such a rating for all its homes.

Similar to the miles per gallon rating, which reflects fuel efficiency for an automobile, the EPG informs buyers about the relative energy efficiency of a KB home, and provides them with an estimated dollar amount for monthly electric and/or gas energy costs for the home as designed, according to company officials.
