KB to host open house in northwest

KB Home will host an open house at four of its communities in the northwest this weekend.

Participating communities are Brighton and Manchester Park Weston in Providence, a master-planned community, as well as Remington and Brookhaven neighborhoods.

Pick up an event "passport" at one of the communities and have it stamped at all four to receive a $20 gas card. All communities will be open Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m.-7 p.m.

Brookhaven is a gated community with five built-to-order floor plans ranging from 1,612 to 2,165 square feet.

The two-story home designs include as many as five bedrooms, three baths and two-car garages.

Providence has two collections of new homes, Brighton and Manchester Park Weston.

Its Brighton collection features a 1,670-square-foot, single-story ranch-style home.

Three additional plans range from 1,914 to 2,602 square feet with as many as five bedrooms, 2½ baths and two-car garages.

All homes are designed to be open and flexible with great rooms located toward the back of the homes adjacent to the kitchens.

In some plans, a traditional den space can be converted into an additional bedroom or utilized as a home office, study or media room.

All KB homes in Las Vegas, including those at its communities in the northwestern valley, are designed to help homeowners save money on monthly expenses by earning the Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star and the NV Energy's Energy Plus certification.

Features like programmable thermostats, radiant-barrier roofing, low-e windows and efficient heating and cooling systems all help keep household utility bills low, according to company officials.

To better illustrate the advantages of these homes, the homebuilder includes its Energy Performance Guide in all new homes. Similar to an mpg sticker on cars, the EPG rating provides homebuyers with estimated monthly electric and gas costs, as well as information on the home's relative energy efficiency when compared to a typical new home or resale home, company representatives said.
