A Los Angeles police officer is accused of kicking and beating a suspect who was being held down by other officers.
The officer, whose name has not been released, was seen on surveillance footage kicking 22-year-old Clinton Alford in the head and beating him with his elbows. Multiple officers were restraining Alford, who was not shown resisting, at the time of the beating, according to the LA Times.
The four officers involved and a sergeant who went to the scene have been relieved of duty pending the results of an investigation. Alford was given stitches at the hospital and booked on charges of drug possession and resisting arrest, both of which he denies.
