Las Vegas Colombian, Peruvian Chambers of Commerce to endorse Hutchison

State Sen. Mark Hutchison, a Republican running for lieutenant governor, is trying to siphon off some of the Hispanic vote in his campaign against Assemblywoman Lucy Flores, a Latina Democrat who’s popular among the Latino crowd.

On Thursday, the Las Vegas Colombian and Peruvian Chambers of Commerce plan to endorse Hutchison, R-Las Vegas. They’re planning to make it official at 5 p.m. at Mi Peru Restaurant in Henderson.

It’s not that much of a surprise since the chambers are a business-friendly group. And many Nevada voters of Colombian and Peruvian heritage lean Republican — unlike the far more numerous Mexican-born crowd, which leans Democratic.

Hutchison already has the support of the most powerful Hispanic in Nevada: GOP Gov. Brian Sandoval.
