Las Vegas Reptile Expo set to open Saturday

Are you entranced by snakes, lizards, tortoises or frogs? If you are, you won't want to miss the Las Vegas Reptile Expo scheduled from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 8, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at the Santa Fe Station, 4949 N. Rancho Drive.

Admission is $8 for adults, $5 for kids younger than 12 and free for kids younger than 2. VIP passes, which include early admission, are $25. Tickets are available at the door or in advance at a discounted rate at getreptiles.com.

The show packs in rare and common reptiles and amphibians along with cages, food and all the care supplies you need to keep your new critters alive and thriving.

While many of the breeders and vendors are local, others come from all over the country to display and sell wares and animals. Most will allow you to handle animals before you make a purchase.

Animals are not to be brought in by the public to show. Reptiles and amphibians can be purchased by patrons at the show, but animals must be taken from the Santa Fe promptly after purchase. So no hanging out at the bar with a boa on your neck or playing slots with your new gecko perched on your shoulder.
