Let’s think about Angle/Reid tempers becoming polling place intimidation

I'd like to think that the federal government would protect the sanctity of the polling place for all Americans regardless of skin color. But the testimony of a high-ranking DOJ prosecutor alleges otherwise.

The case involves two members of a fringe African American militant group that allegedly attempted to intimidate white voters at a Philadelphia polling place during the 2008 election. The Department of Justice had the two men dead to rights, but after pressure from the NAACP the Obama Administration's DOJ decided to drop the case based on the skin color of the alleged victims. In other words, you can't intimidate white voters ... only black voters.

You'll have to make a judgment on the merits of the case yourself. I'd like not to think the DOJ plays favorites like it is alleged. But the facts and charges contained in the above links are worth thinking about, especially for Nevadans who will go to the polls in November in the hotly contested Angle/Reid race for U.S. Senate.

Given the tempers that flared by Reid supporters at the Tea Party rally in Searchlight and the scuffle that took place between Angle and Reid supporters at a forum last night, it would be good to know that extra steps are being contemplated to make sure all voters will be protected from intimidation at the polling place -- no matter what their skin color.
