Longtime Las Vegas couple chooses Mira Villa

Longtime Las Vegas residents Al and Roma Haynes have lived in the Las Vegas area for more than 30 years. They've owned four homes here and Al Haynes, a retired elevator constructor, is able to say that a few years back he had worked in most of the high-rises on The Strip, installing their elevators. With a bit of luck (and a strategic price), Al and Roma Haynes' 3,800-square-foot home in The Vistas sold in less than a month and they closed on their new condominium at the end of January.

"Mira Villa has all of the amenities that we had at our old home with its pool, terraces, outstanding landscaping, etc; the difference is that I don't have to spend my spare time with the upkeep," Al Haynes said. "We weighed the cost of hiring someone to maintain the pool and grounds at our old home and it was more than our homeowners association dues here, not to mention that I'd still have to manage the process. I'm looking forward to taking that time to do more of the things I love."

Despite the depressed real estate market nationwide, and more specifically in the Las Vegas area, the couple said they took advantage of an opportunity.

"This is an 'apples-to-apples' buy," Al Haynes said. "On paper our old home was worth less than it had been a few years before; but our new home at Mira Villa would have cost much more back then, too."

"It's a wash," Roma Haynes said. "At the end of February, when we move in, we'll be living in a place that we love with more time to enjoy the things that matter in life."
