Lundy Elementary gains support

Remember tiny Lundy Elementary School in Kyle Canyon? It was briefly on the chopping block a few weeks ago when the Clark County School District was rushing to make budget cuts in the face of harsh economic times.

Well, Lundy is still alive, and the Mount Charleston Lodge on Friday is holding a party and fund-raiser to benefit the school. Under new ownership, the Lodge is offering drink and food specials and a raffle with plenty of prizes. Half the profits from the food and drink will benefit the school.

Meanwhile, school district officials had scheduled a meeting with residents for tonight. Residents remain cautiously optimistic that their children will be able to continue to attend a public school in their rural outpost.
