Man survives hiding in airplane wheel well for 10-hour flight

A stowaway found Friday in the wheel well of a British Airways flight from Johannesburg remains hospitalized in critical condition after he survived 1o hours of freezing temperatures.

Police on Tuesday were waiting to speak with the man, 24, to see if he was connected to another man whose body was found on a roof of an office building in London, the Guardian reported.

Both were believed to be in the undercarriage of a 8,000-mile flight from Johannesburg to Heathrow Airport through freezing temperatures.

An autopsy is pending on the other man to determine if he died from the fall, which investigators believed to have been from 1,400 feet at the time. Stowaways usually hide in the landing gear of a plane, which often results in their being killed by the low temperatures or oxygen levels.

The identities and nationalities of the men are unknown.
