Midnight release parties for ‘Breaking Dawn’
July 31, 2008 - 4:00 am
The waiting is almost over as bookstores and Stephenie Meyer fans across the country prepare for the release of “Breaking Dawn,” the final book in the author’s best-selling Twilight series.
The series, which follows the romance between Bella and her vampire beau Edward, features good vampires, bad vampires, werewolves, family drama and plenty of teen angst. The books have been popular with all ages, so expect to see plenty of adults standing in line to pick up this guaranteed best-seller.
Bookstores across Las Vegas will be staying open late for a midnight release of the book, which officially goes on sale Saturday, Aug. 2.
The Barnes & Noble at 8915 W. Charleston Blvd. is hosting a “Midnight Masquerade” for the release. The party will start at 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 1, with “Breaking Dawn” going on sale at the stroke of midnight.
Fans are encouraged to come in costume for a night of book discussions, trivia contests, crafts and other activities. (Tickets for line placement will be handed out beginning at 9 a.m. Friday. The tickets are free and are used only to secure a spot in line.) For more information, call 242-1987.
