Nanny refuses to leave after being fired by family

A California couple can’t seem to get rid of the live-in nanny that they fired — even after serving her legal papers.

The couple, Marcela and Ralph Bracamonte, hired 64-year-old Diane Stretton in March after they found her on Craigslist, but after a few months, Stretton stopped working and complained of health problems, according to CBS News.

The Bracamonte’s asked Stretton to leave and even served her with legal papers, but it turned out they were the wrong legal papers and a judge ruled against them in court over the technicality.

Officials say the nanny is free to come and go as she pleases — at least right now.

“They told me it was now a civil matter,” Marcela told CBS Los Angeles, “And I have to [legally] evict her. So this lady is welcome inside my house, anytime she wants, to eat my food anytime she wants and harass me basically. I’m now a victim in my home and it’s completely legal.”

And it’s not Stretton’s first time with legal issues, either.

CBS Los Angeles reported on Thursday that there are legal dealings from her past including homeowners association upkeep, traffic accidents, estates, appliance purchases and rental cars.

Stretton was served with a new legal notice on Wednesday night and must respond within three days.
