To further cut costs, the city of Henderson has decided to eliminate paper check stubs to save $20,000 per year.
Most employees already receive their paychecks through direct deposit while also receiving a paper stub.
After research, the finance department discovered that the simple change could save money.
EARLY VOTING CONTINUES UNTIL FRIDAY
Early voting for the June 7 general election ends Friday . Sam Bateman and Mike Mayberry are vying for the Henderson City Council Ward 4 seat. All registered voters in Henderson can vote, regardless of which ward they live in.
People can vote from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday at City Hall, 240 Water St., or from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Galleria at Sunset mall, 1300 W. Sunset Road.
Other voting sites include from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. today at Albertsons, 201 S. Stephanie St.; Wednesday at Heritage Park Senior Facility, 300 Racetrack Road; and Thursday and Friday at Anthem Sun City Center, 2450 Hampton Road .

TRADER JOE'S HONORED
Trader Joe's, 2716 N. Green Valley Parkway, was honored by the 2011 Volunteer Spotlight Awards, which recognizes organizations that give back to the community.
Trader Joe's was recognized April 5 by the Volunteer Center of Southern Nevada, an organization that strives to make a difference in the community.
Instead of tossing out unused food products that are made in the store, Trader Joe's has given the products to nonprofits such as S.A.F.E. House.
FOUNDATION plans WELLNESS SEMINAR
The Foundation for Wellness Professionals is sponsoring a seminar on women's hormone-related concerns at 7 p.m. Monday at the Paseo Verde Library, 280 S. Green Valley Parkway.
The event teaches women about balancing hormones in a natural way through diet, vitamins and exercises.

SECRETS TO CANCER PREVENTION DISCUSSED
The Foundation for Wellness Professionals is hosting an event that teaches about cancer prevention at 7 p.m. June 7 at the Green Valley Library, 2797 N. Green Valley Parkway.

SUMMER POOLS OPEN JUNE 10
Henderson has announced that its seasonal pools are scheduled to open June 10.
From 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays, the Black Mountain Aquatic Complex, 599 Greenway Road, the Henderson Multigenerational Activity Pool, 250 S. Green Valley Parkway, and the Whitney Ranch Activity Pool, 1575 Galleria Drive, will be open.
From noon to 5 p.m. seven days a week, the Silver Springs Outdoor Pool, 1951 Silver Springs Parkway; the BMI Outdoor Pool, 105 W. Basic Road; and the Wells Outdoor Pool, 1650 Price St., will be open.
Hours are subjected to change depending on holidays.
