Nevada welfare hotline to be taken off line awhile

CARSON CITY — Nevada’s website to apply for welfare assistance, food stamps and Medicaid will be taken off line later this month so the system can be integrated with the state’s new online health insurance exchange.

The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services said the public assistance application website, Access Nevada, will be down Sept. 21-30. It will be back online Oct. 1.

During that time, people seeking assistance will need to submit a paper application. Forms are available on the division’s website, at local welfare offices and family resource centers.
