Vegas Valley Book Festival: The 2015 festival is set for Oct. 15-17 in downtown Las Vegas and at the Clark County Library, 1401 E. Flamingo Road. The largest annual literary event in Nevada, the festival brings together a wide variety of literary genres and cultural programs, with most events taking place Oct. 17 at the Historic Fifth Street School, 401 S. Fourth St. More than 120 authors and 50 events are planned, including panel discussions, keynote speakers, readings, book signings, workshops, vendor exhibits, art exhibitions, spoken word performances and other special programs for a diversity of genres, ages and cultural backgrounds. All events are free and open to the public. Keynote speakers will be Brad Meltzer, author of "The Inner Circle," "Book of Fate" and "The President's Shadow," and Colum McCann, author of six novels and two story collections and the recipient of the National Book Award for "Let the Great World Spin."
