Pardee committed to building green homes with LivingSmart program

As the country gets ready to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Earth Day with A Billion Acts of Green, Pardee Homes continues its more than decade-long commitment to building greener homes.

In Southern Nevada, the builder currently offers green homes through its LivingSmart program at 10 valley neighborhoods, including Rosetta and Serrano in Mountains Edge; Trail Ridge off of Durango and Blue Diamond/State Route 160; Ashwood in Nevada Trails; Montclaire in the Anthem area in Henderson; Riverstone, Horizon and Northpointe in North Las Vegas; Solamar in the northwestern valley and Solstice opening April 17 in Aliante.

According to Mike McGee, president and CEO of Pardee Homes, the company's pledge to build greener began with the pioneering of Energy Star homes in 1998. Pardee's LivingSmart program provides more than 30 earth-friendly standard and optional systems and features for new-home buyers.

"Green homes are better built homes and building better has defined our company since it began in 1921," McGee said. "With today's LivingSmart homes, we offer buyers greater comfort, better efficiency and more earth-friendly homes -- just some of the many benefits of a LivingSmart home."

Pardee Homes' LivingSmart brand complements state and federal codes and initiatives geared to green.

"LivingSmart's energy and water savings measures alone can translate to lower home operating costs, and all of us can find another place to put those dollars," said Joyce Mason, vice president of marketing for Pardee Homes. "And we estimate our energy-efficient homes save more than 11 million pounds of greenhouse gases annually -- all you need to do to reduce your family's carbon footprint is live in a home built to our green standards."

The cornerstones of Pardee Homes' LivingSmart program are explained, illustrated and grouped by category: EnergySmart, EarthSmart, WaterSmart and Health Smart. In each category, new homebuyers will find the included and optional features Pardee offers. More information is available on the Living Green page at pardee.com.

To date, Pardee Homes has brought more than 3,500 LivingSmart homes to its markets in Southern California and Nevada with acknowledgements from the National Association of Home Builders Green Builder Awards, the PCBC Western conference Gold Nugget Awards and the Environmental Protection Agency.

McGee said Pardee Homes anticipates additional enhancements to its green build programs, viewing these as the natural evolution of its long-term commitment to green and sustainable development. "Saving money, promoting health, improving comfort and using resources efficiently are all part of green living, and these benefits continue to inspire our commitment to conserve water, land and energy," he said.

Pardee Homes offers Rosetta and Serrano in the Mountain's Edge master-planned community. The collection of LivingSmart homes prices start from $159,000.

Just north of Mountain's Edge near the intersection of Durango Drive and Blue Diamond Road, Pardee's Trail Ridge features homes priced from $152,000.

At Nevada Trails, the builder's Ashwood neighborhood features four floor plans and prices beginning from $294,000 while Montclaire in Henderson is a collection of six floor plans with prices starting from $287,000.

Riverstone at Prescott Park is located at the northeastern corner of Grand Teton Drive and San Mateo Street, north of Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, in North Las Vegas and features homes with up to four bedrooms with prices from $178,000.

Horizon and Northpointe, located near Deer Springs and Clayton in Eldorado Highlands features a limited inventory of homes. Solamar in Vista Verde in Centennial Hills features five floor plans beginning from $270,000. The builder's newest Southern Nevada neighborhood is Solstice in Aliante and opens to the public April 17. Prices are anticipated to start from the low $200,000s.
