Paxton Walk breaks ground on new style in northwest Las Vegas

With city representatives and neighbors looking on, Blue Marble Development formally broke ground on Paxton Walk, a suburban village in the northwestern portion of the Las Vegas Valley.

Designed as a walkable, mixed-use property, plans for Paxton Walk include condominiums, townhomes, storefronts and recreational amenities, all connected by a landscaped trail system.

The 31-acre project is situated just northwest of the junction of Interstate 215, the Las Vegas Beltway, and U.S. Highway 95.

Mayor Oscar Goodman and Ward 6 Councilman Steve Ross both spoke on the significance of the development to the Centennial Hills area, which they said fulfills the city's goals to bring jobs, services and social amenities closer to where people live.

"This is the fastest-growing district of any city in the nation," Ross said. "There is obviously a strong desire for people to live in this area. Paxton Walk gives them the opportunity not only to live in the northwest, but also walk to their favorite restaurant or to the grocery store. It will place residents close to all the places they like to go."

The councilman outlined the city's vision for the area and added that the region will soon feature all the elements of the Las Vegas lifestyle.

Commenting on the walk-to convenience of storefronts and residences all in one area, Goodman said that it encourages a healthier lifestyle. "We need more projects like Paxton Walk," he said. "This is the kind of mixed-use project people have been asking for."

Dorothy Bell, community sales manager, said the natural amenities of northwest Las Vegas have been a significant attraction for prospective residents.

"The proximity of Mount Charleston, Kyle Canyon and Floyd Lamb State Park bring fishing, mountain biking and skiing just a short drive away," she said.

The development will also include walking and biking areas, in addition to shops, residences and restaurants within its 31 acres.

Bell said the ground-breaking event was much more than symbolic, marking the builder's commitment to seeing the project through.

"Blue Marble has made a significant investment in the success of this project and has taken time to ensure its success. With construction under way, we are fully committed to the completion of this landmark development," she said.

Townhomes at Paxton Walk is a series of 65 townhomes along Slade Avenue. There are two designs of 1,678 and 1,698 square feet. One design includes three bedrooms; the other offers two bedrooms and a loft. Both designs include a private courtyard and two-car garage.

Courtyards at Paxton Walk offers 374 flats or two-level condominiums in four-story buildings surrounding a secure garage that offers at-level parking and direct entry to each residence.

Nine floor plans range from 726 square feet to 1,532 square feet.

Paxton Square Town Center anchors the mixed-use development. The first story includes 46,000 square feet for retail space, including two areas of 7,000 square feet designed for restaurants. The second story offers 50,000 square feet of office space. There are 72 one-level and loft homes on the third and fourth floors, which overlook a 27,000-square-foot courtyard for pathways, seating and outdoor dining.

Gardens at Paxton Walk feature 271 single- and two-story condominiums in four-story buildings, surrounding a secure garage.

The condominiums are located around one of several courtyards or overlooking Slade Avenue, the project's main street.

Resident amenities will include multiple swimming pools, spas and fitness centers. The 9,000-square-foot clubhouse at the center of the development includes a two-story great room, movie theater, workshop, library, catering kitchen and business center.

The common areas feature a rooftop garden, gazebos, fountains, landscaped walkways and meditation gardens.

The sales pavilion is open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily.

To visit, head to the junction of U.S. Highway 95 North and the Las Vegas Beltway. The development is situated on the northeast corner. From U.S. 95, take Exit 91 with the Beltway East/Buffalo Drive option. Turn right on Sky Pointe Drive. The sales pavilion is on the left.

Blue Marble Development is a subsidiary of Shiron Development, a group that has developed three commercial centers in Las Vegas. According to the developer, the company has owned the Paxton Walk property for more than nine years and has fully paid for land, design and entitlement fees, as well as making arrangements for a construction loan.
