Police rescue shirtless man caught in basketball hoop

Seattle police had to rescue a shirtless man from a basketball hoop Friday after he somehow got caught on it upside-down.

A video shows the ordeal after police arrived to the Cal Anderson Park in Seattle. The hammer-wielding man was seen flailing and thrashing around before police arrived, according to KOMO, and continued to act erratically after their arrival.

Nearly a dozen officers showed up and looked on as the man attempted to free his stuck foot, sometimes by going on top of the hoop, and other times going through it.

Eventually, after the arrival of Seattle Fire, the man was cut loose.

“Shirtless man removed from Cal Anderson basketball hoop,” Seattle Police Department tweeted, “He may be arrested for property destruction, or at least goal-tending.”
