A New York man was arrested on attempted unlawful imprisonment, child endangerment and burglary after he told a nanny she was "pushing a dead baby" in a stroller and then followed her home.
According to the Associated Press, Craig Myczkowski approached the nanny as she was pushing a 20-month-old baby in a stroller Monday near the child's home in Long Island. After telling the nanny she was "pushing a dead baby," police said Myczkowski then ordered her to give him the baby.
At a news conference, Nassau County Police Detective Lt. Richard Lebrun said the 65-year-old nanny and the baby went inside the house and locked the doors. Lebrun said Myczkowski was able to get inside the home through an unlocked door to a mudroom.
Although the nanny and baby were unharmed, Lt. Lebrun said Myczkowski grabbed the then-empty stroller and took off from the home. Investigators later found the stroller at a nearby pizzeria, the Associated Press reported.
An employee at a psychotherapist's office said she found Myczkowski Tuesday morning naked and asleep on an office couch when she arrived for work.
According to police, Myczkowski, who appeared to have no connection to the psychotherapist, was incoherent when officers found him, and was taken to a hospital for a psychiatric examination.
