How much ice cream can you eat? You can find out a couple of different ways during the Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday on Sunday. The day of free activities and ice cream treats will be held from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. in The Promenade linear park inside the Providence master-planned community in northwestern Las Vegas Valley.
Unilever will provide the frozen favorites including Dove Bars, Breyers and Ben and Jerry’s ice cream.
For those up to more of challenge, the Providence Master Homeowners Association will host several competitions to see who can eat the most ice cream. There will be separate ice cream-eating contests for Providence residents and the general public in adult and children categories. Prizes will be awarded to the winners.
“The Sunny 106.5 Ice Cream Sunday is the perfect event to be at Providence with our small-town America theme,” said Brandon Exline, CCMC community manager of the Providence Master Homeowners Association. “This complements the full slate of activities we offer for our residents, and provides a fun reason for the rest of the community to come here, learn about us and explore great neighborhoods our builders are creating.”
Ice Cream Sunday also features bounce houses, games, face painting, balloon animals, juggling, and entertainment by the characters from Amazing Clowns. There will be a variety of exhibitors, including Sunny 106.5 FM radio booth with station favorites.
Providence homebuilders will host booths with various activities and information about the homes and current incentives available.
Event attendees are encouraged to bring a new or gently used book to donate to Spread the Word Nevada. The nonprofit organization promotes literacy to make it possible for all children in Nevada to experience books. Monetary donations and volunteering also are welcome. Visit spreadthewordnevada.org to learn more.
For the second year — and ninth in the lifetime of the event — KSNE Sunny 106.5 FM radio has teamed with Providence to hold this free event. Sponsors include Unilever, Las Vegas Party Tents and Rentals, Providence Master Planned Community, Providence Master Homeowners Association, Team Ford and, of course, Sunny 106.5.
The Promenade linear park where Ice Cream Sunday is held is the centerpiece of Providence, creating a venue for families and friends to gather together for play, recreation and relaxation and for jogging, strolling and leisurely bike riding. It features mature trees, formally planted landscapes, children’s play areas and shaded seating areas.
Providence’s main entrance and information center are at 7051 N. Hualapai Way (Las Vegas Beltway north and Hualapai). To get to The Promenade, go north on Hualapai and west on Elkhorn Road. The park entrance is at the Elkhorn/Egan Crest Way intersection. For more information on Ice Cream Sunday or to download a map of the event location, visit ksne.com or providencelv.com.
After the event, attendees can tour the homes and neighborhoods of Providence, which has been ranked among the best-selling master planned communities in the country by RCLCO, the leading independent real estate advisory firm. Providence homebuilders are offering special savings and incentives on new-home purchases. A variety of floor plans and amenities are available.
For example, Richmond American Homes is offering to pay special improvement district fees at its Emerson community. This neighborhood features four floor plans and a community pool and is priced from the low $100,000s.
Providence builders include Beazer Homes, DR Horton, KB Home, Lennar, Meritage Homes, Richmond American Homes, R/S Development, Ryland Homes, Warmington Residential Nevada and Woodside Homes.
In other community news, Knickerbocker Park is nearing completion and will open later this year. It will include a splash pad, tot lots, dog park, youth baseball field, jogging path with exercise stations and picnic areas. The neighborhood park is located at the southeast corner of Shaumber Road and Dorrell Lane.
