This Old House list includes Las Vegas neighborhood
ThisOldHouse.com, the popular TV show and magazine website, has included Las Vegas historic Paradise Palms neighborhood in its 61 Best Old-House Neighborhoods' City Living category.
The 1960s golf course community borders Maryland Parkway, Eastern Avenue and Flamingo and Desert Inn roads. Many celebrities and colorful characters of that era, including Johnny Carson, Debbie Reynolds, Dean Martin, Dinah Shore and mobster Tony Spilotro lived there. The subdivision, which has homes on what is now known as the Las Vegas National Golf Course, was featured in the 1995 movie "Casino."
The 2012 Best Old-House Neighborhoods appear online at thisoldhouse.com/best-places and includes neighborhoods from across the country and Canada.
For its fifth annual list, ThisOldHouse.com features 51 spots in the United States and 10 neighborhoods in Canada, that fit the criteria of old-house neighborhoods, architectural diversity, craftsmanship of the homes and the preservation momentum in the area, as well as neighborhood amenities including walkability, safety and community.
