Reid on August jobless numbers: ‘We are all frustrated … I will keep fighting’

Sen. Harry Reid, reacting to reports that Nevada's unemployment rate has ticked up once again. to 14.4 percent, said this in a statement this morning:

“We are all frustrated with the economy and how long it's taking for things to turn around, but we cannot lose sight of the things we need to do to get our economy moving again. Last week's passage of the small business jobs bill was an important step toward addressing unemployment in Nevada.

“Next, we need to address the issue of businesses that ship American jobs overseas. American businesses will find no better workforce than the American workforce, and we should not be giving tax breaks to businesses who turn their backs on American workers. Putting an end to this practice is something that is long overdue and I plan to address that issue this work period.

"While some may cheer a bad economy in an effort to score cheap political points, Nevadans are fighters who have no patience for that. I will keep fighting with them to create jobs and get our economy back on track, and I won't stop until every Nevadan who wants a job has one."
