Rolladen Shutters is part of a home security plan

Burglaries have increased during the past few months and police agencies say more are expected with the upcoming holiday season, according to a spokesperson with Rolladen Rolling Shutters.
"With the unemployment rate continuing to rise, crime rises with it," said Bianca Minnozzi, vice president of Rolladen.
"We have seen a big increase in crime especially in gated communities."
"Burglars are very brave nowadays," she said. "If the alarms go off, they know how much time they have to get the goods and escape before law enforcement can arrive. However, another key element to all of this is that the police simply cannot keep up, and the burglars know that, too."
According to Minnozzi, burglars not only work in teams, but also plan many heists during the holiday season.
"Many people leave town during Thanksgiving and Christmas, and their homes are being watched by the burglars," she said.
"And with so many people working odd hours, there are many times when nobody is watching."
Rolladen Rolling Shutters are a deterrent to burglaries. The shutters are foam-filled aluminum slats and act as a protective barrier over doors and windows. .
Through Oct. 31, Rolladen is offering a 50 percent deduction on installation costs.
Their two showrooms are located at 6168 W. Charleston Blvd. and 4405 Wagon Trail Ave., near Arville and Sunset Roads.
