Rollins remarks on Reid’s audacious deal

Ed Rollins, the CNN senior political contributor, is a diehard Republican, but he’s been around long enough to appreciate the dealmaking audacity of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid in securing the 60 votes needed to ram through the health care reform bill.
Now, I didn’t say Rollins thinks what Reid accomplished is good for the country, the taxpayers, or the future of politics in Washington.
Rollins: “When Reid said he had his 60 votes a few weeks ago, he was bluffing. But by going behind closed doors, writing a secret bill known only to staff drafters, making the Senate vote at 1 a.m. (10 p.m. Las Vegas time) and horse trading with the best of them, he made good on his bet.”
