SheaXero homes in North Las Vegas use solar power

While some people are decking the halls and hanging stockings this time of year, others are gallivanting around the world on whirlwind vacations.

However you plan to spend your holiday season, there is one thing that's certain for most people: The impending merriment and celebration usually comes with a big price and a little bit of stress.

Still, residents at Shea Homes at Ardiente are finding relief in an unexpected way - through their SheaXero-No Electric Bill Homes.

Shea Homes at Ardiente, an age-qualified community in North Las Vegas, has introduced SheaXero homes, which combine solar power and 14 energy-saving features that can save homeowners as much as $3,000 a year, according to Ryan Smith, sales manager at Ardiente.

He said through well thought-out designs, superior construction and energy efficient features, including Whirlpool Energy Star appliances, Trane energy-efficient heating and cooling systems, low-emissivity-3 vinyl windows, cathedralized attic insulation and blown-in insulation, SheaXero homes can offset energy consumption based on a typical household of two.

"I have friends that pay up to $400 in the summer for their electric bill, and mine has been next to nothing. For anyone who's on the fence about getting a SheaXero home, I'd tell them to look and consider long and hard before living anywhere else. That is a huge savings," said Paul Oldale, one of the first to buy a SheaXero home at Ardiente.

Smith said Ardiente isn't charging extra for the solar power system.

"For active people like the Oldales, saving extra money can easily enhance our members' lives. Mr. Oldale and his wife have just returned from South Africa and already have their next trip planned to the Amazon forest," Smith said. "That is the kind of freedom SheaXero can provide. It gives a little more financial flexibility, and the freedom can be invigorating."

The prices for SheaXero homes start in the $150,000s and Vacation Series homes in the community start in the $120,000s.

For those who want to be in their new homes before the holidays, Ardiente has a limited selection of SheaXero designer homes available, Smith said.

He said quick move-in options, like the Rome and the Venice model, are perfect floor plans for hosting family and friends.

At the hub of the gated community is a private 20,000-square-foot clubhouse featuring two resort-style pools, a fitness center, group exercise studio and access to miles of walking trails.
