‘Short’ dress gets teen kicked out of school on last day

A North Carolina teen was sent home on her last day of high school for reportedly violating her institution’s dress code, and her mother was not happy about it.
According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Central Davidson High School student Violet Burkhart’s floral dress was too short for school.
“I thought my last day was going to be great and exciting,” Burkhart told WGHP. “But they just pretty much ruined it for me.”
The school’s dress code states, “Shorts, skirts, skorts, and dresses shorter than mid-thigh (are prohibited). Mid-thigh is a difficult measure; to be sure that shorts are an appropriate length, the inseam should be a minimum of 5.”
In protest of her daughter’s discipline, Amy Redwine has vowed to wear the incriminating dress to Burkhart’s graduation.
