Trunk-or-Treat: CenturyLink plans to host a free Trunk-or-Treat event from 5 to 9 p.m. Oct. 30 in its parking lot at 3436 Aldebaran Ave. Family-friendly activities planned include multiple bounce houses, carnival games, costumed characters, a petting zoo, a photo booth and a Major League Baseball batting game. Vehicles from community organizations will be onsite along with dozens of community partners with decorated car trunks filled with treats for families. Snacks will be available for purchase, and there will be booths showcasing local businesses. All proceeds will benefit United Way of Southern Nevada.

3. Town Scary: Town Square Las Vegas, 6605 Las Vegas Blvd. South, is set to transform into Town Scary from 4 to 7 p.m. Oct. 31 so children of all ages can trick-or-treat safely at participating stores and restaurants. Children must bring their own basket for collecting treats. Several children's Halloween-themed activities are planned throughout the night, including costume contests, bounce houses, Halloween photos in Town Square Park and more. 4. "The Secret Garden": Signature Productions plans to present its fall musical through Nov. 21 at the Summerlin Library & Performing Arts Center, 1771 Inner Circle Drive. Nevada Welcomes the World: A new exhibit, featuring the Nevada pavilion designs of Frederick DeLongchamps featured in San Francisco and San Diego's 1915 world expositions, is on display at the Nevada State Museum inside the Springs Preserve, 309 S. The Last Nevada Day Open House: The event is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 31 and Nov. 1 at The Hammargren Home of Nevada History, 4318 Ridgecrest Drive. This will be the 20th time former Lt. Gov. and neurosurgeon Lonnie Hammargren has opened his house to celebrate Nevada Day. It is also one of several recent ones to be called the last. The home is actually three homes connected by bridges, tunnels and bric-a-brac, and the tour features the eclectic mix of historical and unusual objects he has collected over the years. Town Hall Meeting for Women Veterans: The town hall meeting is slated from 10:30 to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 30 at the Department of Veterans Affairs, 6900 N. Pecos Road. The meeting is set to give Nevada's women veterans an opportunity to address concerns about issues that pertain to them. Downtown Container celebrates Nevada Day and Halloween: The event is set to begin with a pumpkin patch, where kids can create their own jack-o-lanterns, and face painters and balloon artists at 2 p.m. Oct. 30 at Downtown Container Park, 707 Fremont St. The first 250 children are set to receive a free trick-or-treating bag and glow sticks. Barnyard in the Boneyard: The Neon Museum is set to partner with Horses4Heroes to host the event in its North Gallery from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 31 at 770 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Sponsored by American Fence Company and Current Events, Horses4Heroes will provide a petting zoo for families and children. The cost is $5 per person for adults and children ages 2 or older. "Breathe Onto the Mirror": The exhibit by Jacqueline Ehlis is planned to run through Nov. 8 at The Studio at the Sahara West Library, 9600 W. Sahara Ave. Ehlis is the chairwoman of the art department at Portland Community College, and her work incorporates the interaction of color, light and reflection, reminding the viewer that they are the vehicle that interprets and is part of the works through their reflection in the mirrors. More than 60 species of native and desert-adapted trees and shrubs will be available, including plants appropriate for Mount Charleston and mid-upper elevation environments. The drive helps women prepare for career opportunities and gain confidence to succeed during job interviews and in the workplace.
