Such is hypocrisy

It's a small hypocrisy, perhaps. But one worth noting because the jaded in politics (including, I am sorry to say, too many in the media) hardly consider hypocrisy worth remembering anymore. Everyone does it, they say. When writers succumb to that they become cracked bells clanging out political stories, but always and evermore off key.

The AP story today out of Washington points out that President Barack Obama is treating his biggest financial donors with visits to the White House, where they overnight, attend cocktail parties and chit-chat with administration officials.

There is nothing illegal about that. It's been done before -- a lot.

But it is worth remembering that just some 36 months ago candidate Barack Obama clubbed Hillary Clinton in the Democratic Primary because her husband, President Bill Clinton, invited David Geffen to overnight at the White House.

Obama's campaign leveled the criticism because Geffen had, according to Team Obama, raised $18 million for the Clintons.

It is a small hypocrisy. But a telling one. Barack Obama now rewards his own donors without so much as a hint of remorse. Not a good character sign.
