1. Pub Crawl with Desert Companion: The event is planned from 6 to 9 p.m. March 24 at Tivoli Village, 440 S. It features a 13.1-mile course that begins and ends at Downtown Summerlin and includes a tour of several Summerlin villages and a chip-timed run/walk. Top male and female finishers in varying age groups are recognized; all participants receive medals and shirts. A portion of the proceeds benefits the nonprofit Girls on the Run. Tour De Summerlin Cycling Event: Hundreds of cyclists are expected to participate in the 15th annual Tour de Summerlin April 16 at Downtown Summerlin, 1980 Festival Plaza Drive. Cyclists for the 80-mile ride begin at 7 a.m.; cyclists for the 60-mile ride begin at 7:45 a.m.; and cyclists for the 40-mile ride begin at 8:30 a.m. The non-competitive cycling event includes the community’s dedicated bike routes as well as open desert roads. Jay Cutler Desert Classic: The Las Vegas City Athletic Club 2016 Jay Cutler Desert Classic, a men’s and women’s body-building, physique and fitness competition, is scheduled for March 26, with pre-judging set at 10:30 a.m. and the finals at 6:30 p.m. in the Pearl at the Palms, 4321 W. The Age of Disruption: A pair of events concerning Alzheimer’s disease and dementia is scheduled March 30 at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 McLeod Drive. A documentary by the director of “Alive Inside,” followed by a community engagement workshop designed for people living with dementia and carepartners, is scheduled from 2 to 4 p.m. and a nonfiction theatrical performance featuring original music, storytelling, poetry and insights on aging and care by aging expert Dr. Bill Thomas and musical guest Nate Silas Richardson is scheduled from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 per event. Glass Craft & Bead Expo: The 21st annual event is planned from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. April 1 and 2 and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 3 at the South Point, 9777 Las Vegas Blvd. South. The event will offer nearly 150 booths and 70 tabletops, as well as demonstrations in flameworking and other glass art techniques. Additionally, more than 250 classes are set to be taught by professional artists and industry leaders, with mediums including stained, fused, mosaics, coldworking, beadmaking and marble making. Call for musicians: The nonprofit Las Vegas Young Artists Orchestra is seeking applications for its new Academy Orchestra program for youths 15 or younger who show significant potential. The free program will welcome up to 50 new students who will work alongside internationally recognized guest artists and perform regularly throughout the year. The application deadline is April 8. Red Rock marathon: Triple Dare Running Co. plans its spring race, Flight of Fire Trail Half Marathon & 10K, for May 14 at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, 1000 Scenic Loop Drive. Starting at the Visitor Center, the course will travel clockwise to the Moenkopi Loop, the Grand Circle Loop, and the White Rock-Willow Springs Trail, then to the White Rock dirt road, back to the Grand Circle Loop, on to the Calico Hills Trail, and finally back to the Moenkopi Loop, finishing back at the center. This course is a technical trail race, and trail shoes with gaiters are recommended. The 10K follows the same course, ending at the White Rock aid station. Unite@night Walk: The Chiari & Syringomyelia Foundation plans to host the event at 7:30 p.m. June 11 at the Kellogg-Zaher Soccer Complex, 7901 W.
