Summerlin Hospital Medical Center was recently awarded the 2008-2009 Consumer Choice Award by the National Research Corp. The award identifies hospitals that health care consumers have chosen as having the highest quality and image in more than 250 markets throughout the United States.
"We recognize consumers have choices when it comes to making health care decisions, and we are pleased that Las Vegas has chosen Summerlin Hospital for this recognition," said Karla Perez, vice president and group director for The Valley Health System.
The NRC surveyed more than 200,000 households representing more than 400,000 respondents in order to determine which hospitals provide the highest quality of care in their metropolitan service areas.
Summerlin Hospital Medical Center opened its 40-acre campus in The Crossing village in October 1997. Since then, the center has significantly grown with the community.
A six-story patient tower is under construction and is scheduled to open in early 2010. The new tower will add an additional 180 private patient rooms bringing the total number of hospital rooms to 480.
"Providing Summerlin residents with quality, award-winning medical care has been a top priority and fundamental component of our master plan since inception," said Tom Warden, senior vice president of community and government relations for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin, and a member of the board of governors at Summerlin Hospital. "We're pleased to have such a first-rate medical facility right here in Summerlin."
