Summerlin to host spring grand opening
Summerlin will host a grand opening event, called Spring Bloom, for its newest neighborhood, Amado, April 2 and 3 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
This spring-inspired event will include model home tours, spring teas and cookies from Culinary Training Academy. It will also feature fruit and vegetable carving demonstrations by Le Cordon Bleu Chef Chanh Boupha, floral demonstrations by JoAnn's Designs and a variety of children's activities such as face painting, balloon art, a bounce house and visits with Summerlin Sam, the community's jackrabbit mascot.
To visit Amado from the Las Vegas Beltway, exit at Russell Road heading west, turn right on Mesa Park Drive and left on Hawk Springs Road.
Amado is a new 500-plus home neighborhood located adjacent to the Spring Mountains.
According to Peggy Chandler, senior vice president of land sales for The Howard Hughes Corp., developer of Summerlin, Amado is one of a only a handful mountainside neighborhoods in the community that is not dedicated to high-end custom homes.
"Areas similar to Amado are typically reserved for custom home developments because of their spectacular surroundings," she said. "It's rare to have neighborhoods that offer homes in this setting at this price."
Amado currently offers 14 home floor plans by Pulte Homes and Richmond American Homes.
Pulte Homes offers six two-story home floor plans ranging from 1,810 to 2,575 square feet in two home collections -- Ventana Amado and Terraza Amado. Prices start in the low $200,000s.
Richmond American Homes offers eight one- and two-story home floor plans ranging from 1,450 to 3,050 square feet in two home collections -- Amado Ridge and Amado Crest. Prices start in the high $100,000s.
Amado is located in Summerlin's southernmost village, The Mesa. The nearly 500-acre village is home to The Mesa Park, a 19-acre village park home to three Little League baseball fields, tennis and basketball courts and playground area; and Bishop Gorman High School, a 35.5-acre 187,000-square-foot co-ed Catholic college preparatory school. Future plans for The Mesa include additional neighborhoods and a house of worship site.
