FOR outstanding SENIOR VOLUNTEER
Today is the last day to vote for Nevada’s Outstanding Senior Volunteer. The recognition is part of the Salute to Senior Service program, sponsored by Home Instead Inc., the franchisor of the Home Instead Senior Care network. The program honors the contributions of adults 65 or older who give at least 15 hours a month of volunteer service.
Home Instead Inc. will donate $500 to each of the state winners’ favorite nonprofit organizations, and their stories will be posted on the Salute to Senior Service Wall of Fame. In addition, $5,000 will be donated to the national winner’s nonprofit charity of choice.

RED ROCK ROTARY CLUB PLANS PHOTOGRAPHER FUNDRAISER TODAY
The Red Rock Rotary Club and AR Creative Photography plan to host a Strike a Pose fundraiser from 6 to 9 p.m. today at O’Aces Bar & Grill, 9050 W. Post Road.
The event will feature professional head shots for $10 in advance or $15 at the event. Also expect networking opportunities, raffle prizes, free appetizers and a cash bar.

WESTSIDE NEWCOMERS TO GATHER WEDNESDAY at grace in the desert
The Westside Newcomers Club plans to host a coffee event for prospective members at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Grace in the Desert Episcopal Church, 2004 Spring Gate Lane. The coffee events are planned for the first Wednesday of each month.
The club is for women who have lived in the area for 10 years or less or those who have life-changing events, such as retirement. A luncheon with a program is planned for the second Wednesday of each month.

A Night to Honor Israel is scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at Word of Life Christian Center, 3520 N. Buffalo Drive.
Join the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas and the leadership of Christians United for Israel for an unconditional tribute to Israel and the Jewish people. Its purpose is to promote esteem and understanding between Jews and Christians and to emphasize things held in common.

NATHAN ADELSON HOSPICE PLANS BUTTERFLY RELEASE AT SYMPHONY PARK
Nathan Adelson Hospice plans to host its annual Butterfly Release Sunday at Symphony Park, 361 Symphony Park Ave., with a ceremony starting at 2 p.m. and the release of the butterflies at
2:30 p.m.
The event will consist of a nondenominational dedication, followed by the release of live butterflies in honor and/or memory of loved ones.

BIRTHRIGHT ISRAEL TRIP TAKING REGISTRATION
Spots are available for this summer’s Nevada State Birthright Israel trip, a free trip to Israel for young Jewish adults sponsored by the Jewish Federation of Las Vegas and Taglit-Birthright Israel Foundation.

LETTER CARRIERS FOOD DRIVE
SET FOR MAY 11
The 23rd annual Letter Carriers Food Drive, which benefits organizations across the country, is scheduled for May 11. The Salvation Army has been participating since the program’s inception in Las Vegas and receives all donations that come to the U.S. Post Office at 1611 Spring Gate Lane, near Town Center Drive. Volunteers from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gather, sort and load donations alongside staff members from The Salvation Army and volunteers.

TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION SEEKS INPUT ON PROPOSED TRANSIT SERVICE CHANGES
The Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada is seeking public input on proposed transit service changes scheduled to take effect starting July 7, pending community feedback.
Proposed changes to some routes include: increased frequencies, schedule and span of service adjustments in addition to modifications to the Boulder Highway Express, Henderson & Downtown Express, Route 212-Sunset Road and Route 402-Sunset/Boulder City. Also, boarding changes are proposed on the Sahara, Boulder Highway and Henderson & Downtown express routes. A full list of proposed changes is available at rtcsnv.com.

NV ENERGY TAKING APPLICATIONS FOR SOLAR GENERATIONS PROGRAM
NV Energy’s SolarGenerations program is accepting applications for the next round of solar energy projects through 5 p.m. May 17.
Successful applicants will be eligible for rebates to help offset their installation costs for photovoltaic panels that convert sunlight into electricity.
Residential customers and small businesses are eligible. Participants must be NV Energy electric customers.
At the close of the application period, if any category is oversubscribed, participants will be chosen by a lottery conducted by a third party.
