Skatecity shuts doors

SkateCity indoor skate park closed following business on Dec. 9. The park's website, skatecity.info, says that it is closed pending a possible sale of the park at 4915 Steptoe St., Suite 400, and information will be updated when there are changes.

Seniors invited to visit state Museum

A field trip for seniors 50 or older to the new Nevada State Museum at the Springs Preserve is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday leaving from the Parkdale Senior Center, 3200 Ferndale St. Admission is $8.75. To sign up, call 455-8502.

Teens encouraged to make resolutions

A discussion with teens on how to achieve New Year's resolutions is scheduled from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Jan. 7 at the Sunrise Library, 5400 Harris Ave. Teens can hear tips on how to get a job, study more efficiently and learn other useful information. All-Day Skates scheduled

All-day skate events are scheduled from noon to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Friday at Crystal Palace Skating Center, 4680 Boulder Highway. Admission is $8, $9 with skate rental included. The price includes two slices of pizza, a soft drink and four video game tokens. For details, call 458-7107.

RECYCLE CHRISTMAS TREES THROUGH JAN. 15

The University of Nevada Cooperative Extension is partnering with community organizations for the annual Christmas tree recycling program. Drop off your Christmas tree for free at more than 20 drop sites through Jan. 15. Remove lights, wire, tinsel, ornaments and nails. Foreign objects contaminate the mulch and damage the chipper. Flocked trees cannot be recycled. Last year, Southern Nevada residents recycled more than 15,000 trees. For more information and drop sites, visit cdsn.org.

Town Advisory Boards to meet

The Paradise Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 7 p.m. today at the Paradise Recreation and Community Services Center, 4775 S. McLeod Drive.

The Winchester Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. today at the Winchester Cultural Center, 3130 S. McLeod Drive.

The Whitney Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. Jan. 12 at the Whitney Recreation Center, 5712 E. Missouri Ave.

The Sunrise Manor Town Advisory Board is scheduled to meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Hollywood Recreation and Community Services Center, 1650 S. Hollywood Blvd.
