Midnight Mayhem racing set for june 28
Midnight Mayhem is scheduled from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. June 28 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 7000 Las Vegas Blvd. North. The event is a safe alternative to illegal street racing and allows drivers to pit their own street vehicles against one another on a drag strip. ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL to roll in
The Electric Daisy Carnival is scheduled from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. June 21-23 at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, 7000 Las Vegas Blvd. North. Tickets are sold out to the international electronic music festival for ages 18 or older.
Free Guitar lessons scheduled
Free summer guitar basics for beginners classes are scheduled from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. every third Saturday of the month this summer at the Sunrise Library, 5400 Harris Ave. Participants are invited to bring their own guitar and learn guitar basics such as tuning and simple chords. Kids book club set for whitney library
A weekly Magic Tree House Book Club is scheduled from 4 to 5 p.m. June 20 at the Whitney Library, 5175 E. Tropicana Ave.

Wetlands Park seeks Volunteers
The new nature center at the Clark County Wetlands Park, 7050 Wetlands Park Lane, is seeking volunteers to interact with visitors and explain the significance of the nature preserve. Responsibilities will include interacting with the public, light cleaning and upkeep of the exhibits and assisting staff members with special projects and programs.
Applicants must be 18 or older and are subject to a background check.
Experience in teaching, knowledge of local natural or cultural history, or understanding of informal science education can be helpful but is not required.

CYCLISTS FROM JOURNEY OF HOPE TO ROLL THROUGH LAS VEGAS JUNE 19 AND 20
A team of 36 cyclists participating in Journey of Hope, presented by KRG Capital, plans to visit Las Vegas June 19 and 20 as a stop on their 4,000-mile cycling event across the country to raise funds and awareness for people with disabilities.
The southern route team is slated to arrive about noon June 19 at the Veterans Memorial Leisure Services Center, 101 N. Pavilion Center Drive.
City of Las Vegas representatives are set to present a proclamation from Mayor Carolyn Goodman naming June 19 as PUSH America Day. Team members will participate in a wheelchair basketball demonstration and make a bicycle safety presentation. That evening they are slated go bowling at the Santa Fe Station with participants in the city’s Adaptive Recreation program and then spend Thursday at Wet ‘n’ Wild water park with Lorenzi Adaptive Program summer campers.
This year’s Journey of Hope is on target to raise more than $500,000 on behalf of people with disabilities. For more information, visit pushamerica.org.
