A child molestation suspect’s violent outburst in a Clark County (Wash.) courtroom left a judge and deputy with injuries as they tried to control him, according to the sheriff’s office.
The whole chaotic scene was caught on camera.
Investigators said Roberto Diaz, 49, abruptly left the defense table in Judge Daniel L. Stahnke’s courtroom Thursday and attempted to hit a Clark County deputy prosecutor.
A Clark County deputy sheriff assigned to courthouse duty intervened and a struggle ensued. Deputies said Stahnke also got involved in the physical confrontation.
With help from courthouse deputies and security, Diaz was subdued and taken into custody. Already facing the charge of first-degree child molestation, Diaz was booked into the Clark County Jail again on new charges of assault.
The judge and deputy sustained injuries requiring medical attention, but both were expected to make full recoveries.
The deputy prosecutor was also injured in the melee, but did not require medical attention.
