The epitome of power, performance

This hybrid offers the best of both worlds — performance and luxury.

With 360 horsepower, the 2015 Infiniti Q50 gives high-end sports cars a run for their money, accelerating from zero to 60 in less than 5 seconds. At the same time, it achieves an Environmental Protection Agency-estimated 36 miles per gallon on the highway and nearly 30 mpg around town.

This combination of power and fuel-efficient performance, high-end luxury and eye-catching sport sedan styling, is on display in the 2015 Infiniti Q50 hybrid.

“Right now, the Q50 is our most popular model,” Park Place Infiniti General Manager Joe Tortomasi said. “From its handling and superior technology to its sleek design, the Q50’s combination of luxury and performance are hard to beat. People can’t believe they can get close to 30 miles per gallon in a four-door luxury car with more than 360 horsepower, all for under $50,000.”

The 2015 Q50 hybrid takes sport sedan performance a step further, Tortomasi said, adding that the hybrid’s performance edge comes from the Infiniti direct response hybrid system.

The Q50 hybrid combines the output of a 3.5-liter aluminum-alloy V6 and an electric motor. The V6 contributes 302 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the electric motor adds another 67 horsepower. The system’s total output of 360 horsepower makes it the most powerful Q50 model, and the rare hybrid that outperforms the nonhybrid version of the same model.

“With acceleration of zero to 60 in 4.9 seconds, it will forever change drivers’ expectations of hybrids,” Tortomasi said.

A key to the Infiniti Q50 hybrid’s performance driving character is dual clutch control, which seamlessly combines output from the gasoline engine and the electric motor and channels it through a seven-speed automatic transmission. Drivers can rev up the sporty driving using steering wheel paddle shifters. In contrast, many competitive luxury hybrid sedans use continuously variable transmissions, which dampen a car’s performance feel.

“You can easily personalize the Q50 hybrid on the move by using the drive mode selector to set performance characteristics for the powertrain, transmission, chassis and steering,” Tortomasi said. “Our customers like that feature.”

As with the gasoline-only version of the Q50, drivers can choose between rear-wheel drive and Infiniti intelligent all-wheel drive in the Q50 hybrid. Also, the Q50 hybrid shares a four-wheel independent suspension with its gasoline-fueled sibling, including dual flow path shock absorbers. Athletic agility and supple ride comfort coexist.
