The Palms’ Gavin Maloof to move to Southern Highlands community

When Gavin Maloof, vice chairman of Maloof Cos. a family enterprise, which owns Coors and Miller distributing in New Mexico, a large position in Wells Fargo stock, the NBA Sacramento Kings and The Palms hotel-casino in Las Vegas, first saw the house in Southern Highlands, it was a slam dunk.

It was love at first sight and to him as good as making a three-point shot.

"It is one of a kind. I just love the house," Maloof said, in a phone conversation while at the San Francisco Giants vs. Atlanta Braves game Tuesday.

Located in the Southern Highlands Golf Course and Club community, Maloof paid $10 million cash. It was listed for $12.9 million by Bob Barnhart, owner of Red Rock Realty.

The deed and trust documents were recorded on July 20 according to the Clark County Recorder's Office.

The home, which Maloof said he will be living in, has 13,489 square feet situated on one acre.

Along with seven bedrooms and nine baths, containing four suites, the home features a maid's quarters, office, wine room, library, home theater, wellness center, steam shower and dry sauna.

"I put $2 million in upgrades, furnishings and my custom made Jesse James motorcycle from West Coast Choppers with our team logo in white and purple and featured it near the game room," Maloof said.

Describing Maloof when he first viewed the home, Barnhart said, "He was like a kid in a candy store. He was in awe."

Maloof's Realtor, Kristine Rogers of Realty executives of Nevada, Henderson, has worked with the Maloof family for over 10 years.

"Gavin's current home is located in an exclusive golf course enclave in Spanish Trail. It will be on the market, but a definite date has not been set."

The custom home is nearing completion with no date for move-in. It was built as a joint venture between the Barnharts, including his wife, Jill, and builder Ernie Domanico of Domanico Custom Homes.

"Family is everything. George, (one of Maloof's brothers), helped me negotiate the price. My other brothers, Joe and Phil and my sister Adrienne and my mother, Colleen, have seen my home," Maloof said. They are his family and his dream team in business.
