THEATER: The Auto-Tuning of Broadway?

Local blogger Scott Rosenzweig is among those of us who greatly miss the old days of original Broadway cast albums. Compared to CDs, of course, the packaging was huge, sometimes with pages of photos, notes, plot synopsis and lyrics.

And I doubt you'll find many Great White Way lovers who would argue that we don't have the caliber of Broadway stars we used to. Folks such as Mary Martin or Ethel Merman may have occasionally done other work in other medium, but they were known worldwide for their stage work.
