Lamb of God Lutheran Church plans a free live Nativity scene with cocoa, cider and cookies from 4 to 9 p.m. Saturday outside the worship center at 6220 N. Jones Blvd.

The Walt Boenig Big Band, featuring Laura Taylor on vocals, is set to perform a free holiday concert at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Nicholas J. Horn Theater on the College of Southern Nevada's Cheyenne campus, 3200 E. Cheyenne Blvd. Visit waltboenigbigband.com.

The public is invited to performances of "The Magical Snowman and the Snow Queens," an annual winter holiday show that features local figure skaters of all ages moving to a variety of music from Michael Jackson to "Jingle Bells." Shows are planned for 6 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. Sunday at Fiesta Rancho SoBe Ice Arena, 2400 N. Rancho Drive. Admission is $9. Students from the City Wide Youth Music Workshop plan to perform at the 17th annual Shoes for Children Shoe Drive and Benefit Performance at 3 p.m. Saturday at the West Las Vegas Library, 951 W. Lake Mead Blvd. Admission is one new pair of children's athletic shoes sized to fit children in preschool through high school. Worth a drive

The city of Las Vegas plans to present "Mama's Fabric," an exhibit by John Broussard, set to be on display through May 5 at the West Las Vegas Arts Center, 947 W. Lake Mead Blvd. The exhibit is focused on community organizer Beatrice Dixon, Broussard's mother, who had a passion for sewing fabrics given to her as gifts. The exhibit includes Broussard's photographs of diverse Americans and Dixon's fabrics to tell her story. Visit lasvegasnevada.gov or call 229-4800.

The Las Vegas Garden Railway Society's annual Christmas model train exhibit is set to be on display 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays through Dec. 31 at Jim Marsh Automotive, 8555 W. Centennial Parkway. Viewing is free, and donations will go to The Shade Tree.
