Woman put toddler in washing machine ‘for a laugh’

A Scottish mother is accused of putting a 2-year-old boy with Down's Syndrome in a washing machine for "a laugh" after a photo surfaced online showing the incident.

Courney Stewart, 21, was questioned by police after putting the photo on Facebook, saying that he got in the washing machine on his own accord, the Telegraph reported. The photo showed an adult's hand holding the door shut.

“He is clearly laughing in the pictures. So I don’t understand why somebody took that picture as – well, I don’t know what they took it as," she said. “What did they think I was doing to him? Taking him for a spin?"

Stewart took the photo down and was "given advice" by police but not placed under arrest.
