Fire damages Henderson home, displaces family

A blaze at a Henderson home displaced four people, their pets and caused $390,000 in damage Tuesday afternoon, the Henderson Fire Department said.

Fire crews were called about 12:30 p.m. to the two-story house near the intersection of Anthem Parkway and Reunion Drive, the Fire Department said in a news release.

Crews first noticed smoke and flames coming from the three-vehicle garage, which spread to the interior before it was put out.

A resident was in the house when the blaze began and was able to leave with a pet, the Fire Department said. The Southern Nevada Red Cross was assisting the two adults, two children and four pets displaced by the fire.

The Fire Department said a neighbor suffered a "rapid heart rate" and was treated at the scene and a firefighter drove himself to a clinic after twisting an ankle.

The fire was determined to be an accident, but further details were not immediately available.
