Here’s what to expect for UFC on Fox 19

A breakdown of the fights on the main card of UFC on Fox 19 on Saturday at Tampa, Florida:

Glover Teixeira (24-4) vs. Rashad Evans (24-4-1)

CLASS: Light heavyweight

LINE: Teixeira minus-205

STORYLINE: A matchup of two veterans hoping to make one last big push toward the top of the division. Evans is a former champion, but his title reign is feeling increasingly distant. Evans held the belt in 2008. While he unsuccessfully challenged Jon Jones for the title in 2012, Evans has struggled to stay healthy over the past few years. He missed nearly two years before returning for an uneven performance in a loss to Ryan Bader by unanimous decision in October. Teixeira also fell short in his own shot at Jones’ title in 2014. He is coming off back-to-back stoppage wins in 2015. Teixeira has a solid submission game, though Evans never has been tapped out as a professional. Evans, an outstanding mixed martial arts wrestler, should be able to dictate where the bout is contested. He may put Teixeira on his back a time or two, but will likely try to make it a boxing match. Teixeira has the edge in tight, while Evans should have the speed edge when the action is contested at a distance. While Teixeira could end the night with one punch, Evans is durable. The line appears too high here. Evans should have kicked off the rust in the loss to Bader and is capable of recapturing his form, especially since the time away has saved him some wear and tear.

PICK: Evans by decision

Rose Namajunas (5-2) vs. Tecia Torres (7-0)

CLASS: Women’s strawweight

LINE: Namajunas minus-250

STORYLINE: With all the changes that have been made to the card, this one may have emerged as the most intriguing. It’s possible the winner will get the next shot at the title after Joanna Jedrzejczyk defends the belt against Claudia Gadelha in July. Torres is unbeaten and has a victory over Namajunas in 2013, but Namajunas is still just 23 and growing by leaps and bounds each time out. She is coming off a star-making performance, as she dominated Paige VanZant in December. Torres relentlessly pressures opponents and is shockingly strong. She has yet to finish an opponent, however. She is capable of duplicating her performance from the first meeting and powering her way to a decision. While they’ve both improved, Namajunas took a huge step forward in her last fight. She may be too dynamic for Torres at this point.

PICK: Namajunas by second-round submission

Khabib Nurmagomedov (22-0) vs. Darrell Horcher (12-1)

CLASS: Lightweight

LINE: Nurmagomedov minus-1,100

STORYLINE: Nurmagomedov was slated to return from two years away from competition with a main event bout against Tony Ferguson. While the matchup had hardcore fans drooling, it was a tall order for a fighter who has been away for so long. The step down in competition to newcomer Horcher probably makes more sense for Nurmagomedov to find his footing. When he’s healthy, he’s one of the most talented fighters in the organization. The well-rounded 27-year-old was on a tear before a series of injuries slowed him. In fact, his last fight was a unanimous decision over current champion Rafael dos Anjos. Nurmagomedov has seven knockout wins and seven submission wins in his career. Horcher, the Cage Fury Fighting Championships lightweight champ, was brought in on late notice to replace Ferguson and could be stepping into a hornet’s nest. His lone loss was to UFC veteran Phillipe Nover in 2013. This should be his second if Nurmagomedov is on his game. The bout will be contested at a catchweight of 160 pounds, as Horcher was signed too late to make 155.

PICK: Nurmagomedov by first-round submission

Cub Swanson (21-7) vs. Hacran Dias (23-3-1)

CLASS: Featherweight

LINE: Swanson minus-130

STORYLINE: Swanson was on quite a roll before running into a roadblock in back-to-back losses against two of the top featherweights in the world. His six-fight winning streak was snapped by Frankie Edgar in November 2014 before Max Holloway duplicated the feat in April 2015. Swanson suffered serious injuries to his jaw and hand in the second loss and has spent the past year recovering. Dias lost two of his first three fights in the UFC, but has won two in a row to jump into the top 10. He is a jiu-jitsu black belt, though he has yet to land a submission win in the UFC. It’s an intriguing matchup because the consecutive submission losses have to be weighing on Swanson going into a bout with an opponent who clearly will be hunting for his neck or limbs. As long as Swanson can get over the mental hurdle, he should be in a good position to end the losing streak.

PICK: Swanson by second-round knockout
