Las Vegas NHL team adds former minor-leaguer Kent Hawley as amateur scout

Las Vegas’ new hockey team added another scout to its staff Wednesday, announcing the hire of Kent Hawley as an amateur scout.

In recent weeks, the team has been filling out its scouting department, adding amateur, professional and European scouts.

Hawley joins the team from the Edmonton Oilers, where he worked as an amateur scout since 2005. Before that, he was a scout in the Ontario Hockey League and served as a head coach in two other leagues.

As a player, Hawley played in the American Hockey League, East Coast Hockey League and United Hockey League. He was a second-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers in 1986.
