Las Vegas’ Connor Fields finishes 4th in BMX seeding run

Team USA BMX rider Connor Fields, who is from Las Vegas, finished fourth in Wednesday’s seeding run at the Rio Olympic Games.

The reigning BMX world champions earned the top Olympic seeds after finishing first in their respective qualifying runs.

France’s Joris Daudet was first on the men’s side after finishing the roughly quarter-mile course in 34.617 seconds. He was followed by David Graf of Switzerland, Sam Willoughby of Australia and Fields, who clocked in at 34.768 seconds. Fields is a Green Valley High graduate and competed in the 2012 Olympics in London.

The men race next on Thursday in the quarterfinals.

In the women’s draw, Mariana Pajon of Colombia took the top seed with a time of 34.508 seconds. Pajon will be followed by Caroline Buchanan of Australia and Laura Smulders of the Netherlands.

The women next race on Friday.
