Stacey Augmon expected to join Milwaukee Bucks staff

Former UNLV star Stacey Augmon is headed back to the NBA and expected to join the Milwaukee Bucks as an assistant coach, according to ESPN.com.

Augmon served on the Rebels’ staff the past five seasons, and had hoped he would be hired to succeed to Dave Rice, who was fired on Jan. 10. But UNLV first opted for Chris Beard, who quickly left for Texas Tech, and then hired Marvin Menzies.

Augmon is one of the top players in UNLV history, a key member of the 1990 national championship team and 1991 Final Four squad.

He then went on to play 15 seasons in the NBA before becoming an assistant for the Denver Nuggets for four years. Augmon then returned to his alma mater.

Augmon did not immediately return a message asking for comment.
