Top UNLV-San Diego State basketball games

• March 9, 2002 — UNLV rallied from a 16-point deficit to come within a point before San Diego State's Deandre Moore made two free throws with 3.3 seconds left to defeat the Rebels 78-75 in the Mountain West tournament championship. The victory also put the Aztecs in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1985.

• Feb. 12, 2005 — San Diego State led at home by 18 points with 12:28 left and by 10 with 28.5 seconds remaining. But the Rebels made up the deficit, with Curtis Terry making a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game into overtime. The Rebels went on to win 93-91 in OT.

• Feb. 3, 2009 — UNLV went into the game with a 27-game winning streak at the Thomas & Mack Center. The game went into overtime, and Kyle Spain scored eight of his 17 points in the extra session to lift the Aztecs to a 68-66 victory.

• March 11, 2011 — This was San Diego State coach Steve Fisher's best team, one that would sweep the Rebels in three meetings, to earn a No. 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament and make the Sweet 16. But UNLV gave the Aztecs all they could handle in this Mountain West tournament semifinal before San Diego State's D.J. Gay made an 8-footer with 4.9 seconds left for a 74-72 victory.

• Jan. 14, 2012 — The Rebels went to San Diego ranked 12th, and the Aztecs were No. 22. But it was the hometown team that emerged victorious when Jamaal Franklin dropped in a layup with .3 seconds left to beat UNLV 69-67.

• Feb. 11, 2012 — UNLV got revenge in Las Vegas, but had to sweat it out after losing a 13-point second-half lead. The 14th-ranked Rebels emerged with a 65-63 victory over No. 13 San Dego State when Justin Hawkins stole the ball with three seconds left. UNLV's victory also ended San Diego State's six-game series winning streak.

• March 12, 2015 — Aqeel Quinn scored 15 of his 21 points in the second half as the Aztecs edged UNLV 67-64 in the conference tournament quarterfinals. That turned out to be the Rebels' final game of the season, and it extended San Diego State's winning streak in the series to six games.
