Jerry’s Nugget offers promotions for ‘Big Game,’ senior players

Jerry’s Nugget has added another “Big Game Day” promotion. On Sunday, video poker players wearing a Jerry’s Nugget Royal Flush T-shirt (that they received the last time they hit a royal flush at Jerry’s) will receive a double payout on any royal flushes hit from 10 a.m.-8 p.m. (nickel-quarter-dollar machines, with card, max coin, no wild cards). On Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays (ClubBoomer Days), all players 55-plus receive five times points (see below), a $5 blackjack match play and players earning 550 base points receive a $10 meal coupon.

Wine event benefits public TV

Splendor in the Glass, a benefit for Southern Nevada Public Television, is scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. Feb. 13 at the Las Vegas Hilton, 3000 Paradise Road. Featuring 65 wineries and breweries, a live wine auction, a silent auction and live smooth jazz, it’s $65 in advance or $80 at the door.

UMC care deficiencies are being addressed

UMC has put into place a series of corrective actions to offset “deficiencies” listed in federal and state investigations that followed the treatment in November of 25-year-old Roshunda Abney. The Las Vegas woman was treated for abdominal pain and a suspected pregnancy at a Quick Care before being transferred to UMC’s emergency room. There, she waited for six hours before giving up and going to another hospital. Abney eventually went home, where a breech birth occurred, resulting in the loss of the child.
