The Clark County School District’s 2010-11 enrollment is 309,977, an increase of 501 students over last year, district officials announced Monday.

ALAMEDA, Calif. — George Blanda, the Hall of Fame quarterback and kicker whose 26-year career was remembered for a remarkable run of late-game theatrics with the Oakland Raiders, has died. He was 83. Blanda retired just shy of his 49th birthday in 1976, playing longer than anyone in pro football history.

The miners are sleeping on cots that were sent down in pieces and reassembled. They can speak with their families using a phone that also was taken apart and put back together down below.

Man kills wife, stepkids, self; spares own kids

RIVIERA BEACH, Fla. — A South Florida man spared his two biological children when he fatally shot his estranged wife and four stepchildren early Monday before turning the gun on himself, police said. Seven children were inside the home when Patrick Dell, 41, shot Natasha Whyte-Dell, 36, and her four children, who were all pronounced dead at the scene. A 15-year-old at the home was brought to the hospital. Neighbors said Dell was kicked out of a club Sunday night because he was drunk and making threats. It was unclear if the threats were directed at his family.
